Back when I was attending ASU (95 – 98) I got into mountain biking.  Since graduating I had not ridden at all until 2007 when I started to ride again with a friend from work.  I was having a hard time keeping up with him, he could go much faster on the downhill slopes, he had a full suspension bike, and I had to slow down to keep my hard tail from bouncing off the trail.  So for my 2008 birthday I got a new Specialized Epic Expert from Global Bikes.  Since I had a new bike and a new outlet for my energy, I decided that I wanted to try my hand at Mountain Bike Racing, I can be a little competitive sometimes (that’s an understatement).  I joined my biking friend and entered my first race. I've been finishing in respectable positions for my class, the 40-49 Beginner men's class.  My goal for this year is to get booted into the Sport class next year.  I’ll need 3 top 5 finishes to make this happen.

I’m an adrenalin junky, past hobbies include Snow Skiing, Skydiving, Catamaran Sailing, and driving my 1970 Porsche 914-6 on the track.  My current hobbies are Windsurfing, Scuba Diving, and Mountain Biking.  I love the exercise I get with Biking and the thrill of speed just makes it that much better.

I currently ride at least twice a week.  My favorite ride is Desert Classic to Secret to the heli-pad, back on Desert Classic to the Warpaint loop, then back to the Pima parking area.  I don’t enjoy the steep technical climbs as much as cross country, but I’m working on forcing myself to do more of that type of riding.  If I’m not on the trail I’ll take a spin class at the gym.
